Speaker Profiles

Anna Connell

Anna Connell (@annagconnell) is a digital creative and strategist at marketing agency Bettle and Associates and a commentator, columnist and writer. She writes a fortnightly column for newsroom.co.nz and commentates on politics, diversity and gender equality and social media and technology for various media including Radio Live and Radio New Zealand. She is also a member of the Auckland Writers Festival board. She has been the head of BNZ’s social media and content team and the Development Manager for Auckland Theatre Company. She is usually running about half an late for everything (but will be on time for Refactor!) and is definitely not as put together as this bio might imply. 

Brenda Leeuwenberg

Since completing her PhD in Anatomy and Biochemistry in the mid 90s, Brenda (@digitalharpy) has had nothing much to do with science. She jumped ship to ride the internet wave and never looked back. Bad metaphors aside, Brenda was one of the early internet entrepreneurs in NZ, and has been working at the forefront of technology-for-business and creativity since it was first a thing. Until recently she was the Head of Innovation for NZ On Air - responsible for funding of Digital Media projects and various other things, and also Director of Nomad8 - a leading Agile business consultancy. 

Lisa Wong

Lisa Wong (@HaikuGeek) is a Product Lead for Crown Equipment, productizing robotics technologies for materials handling. She holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, focusing on signal processing and machine learning. After her studies, she transferred her knowledge of biomedical signal processing to the world of mobile robotics. Today, she uses her experience to connect technologies, business needs and customer needs to create innovative solutions in materials handling. When she isn't at work, you can find her geeking out over the latest board games, or painting fan-art.
